Freedom Bound

“even if this wasn’t forever, this is all I’d ever need.”

There are a million little pieces of me,

scattered all around.

Shards broken in the let downs of love,

love left for dead on the ground.

And over time they’ve dusted over, and long since been forgotten,

Until a light shone on my soul and thought,

"This is just what I wanted."

Imperfect & imbalanced

like a raging sea,

But all he saw was the elegance of the waves crashing,

as if he could really see me.

And as we walked together in the darkness,

he picked up each piece of glass,

and they all reflected like a prism,

the light shining through at last.

He was so gentle to not get cut,

and not to cut me too.

His touch was something extraterrestrial,

it felt too good to be true.

And the more I questioned,

the more I just let go.

Because all the answers were in his actions,

and how he tended to my soul.

And I knew even if this wasn’t forever,

this was all I’d ever need.

For the one who found me aimlessly is the one who set me free.
