Fragments of a Fading Hope

When Trust Turns to Disillusionment

I don't recall the day I chose

To pit hope against the weight of woe,

To wrestle with the empty space

Where once your promises would grace.

For countless moments, I held fast,

Believing you'd arrive at last,

Yet every time, the truth unfurled—

You’d turn away, dismiss my world.

You’d offer fragments, shards of care,

While I was left with vacant air,

Accused of greed when I refused

To scrape and bow, to be abused.

I can no longer bear the strain,

Of sacrificing self in vain,

Of hearing echoes in my mind—

You knew you never had to bind.

I never asked for what you gave,

Yet you took freedom, left me grave,

And in the quiet, where you cease,

I find my own elusive peace.
