sadness, sprinkled with anger that I allowed myself to trust

Have done so many things to me
the first: shock
the second: well, of course...
the third: tears that wouldn't go away
~
Maybe you thought you could escape me
but
The further you go
the more of my name
your mind will know
~
The splash of an ocean wave carries my tears and sweat
The fire that dances in your eyes; my spirit
the smell of your favorite tree is my skin
I am clothed with the greens that bring you serenity
~
You'll second guess when you see long blonde hair
fluttering in the breeze
and your heart will wish that it was me
standing beside you on the cliffs edge
~
Death and decay
The shortening of the day
the echo of the cold air
in the dead still of night;
it is you who will wake up screaming
that you lost me
it is your nightmare that you will remember

Day 4 of Quitting
If this is how sobriety feels, maybe it’s better to go through life a little buzzed… this, along with other hits like, I want to kill myself, I wish I was dead, and I’m going to throw myself off a bridge have been the only thoughts on rotation these past few days. I promise myself that if, in a month, I still feel like this (‘this’ meaning despondent, full of rage, and simultaneously numb) I can go back to smoking. Until mid-February though? Nicotine is off the table.

Can I just say I could not stop reading I was going down, down down feeling your words, feeling this poem, the pull of this is truly soulfull, a beautiful piece of art.
You never fail to surprise us. A poem within a poem? What have we done to deserve being so spoiled? The originality here is captivating. Getting rid of the natural letters of their name, and spelling out 'love' instead, meant they became the embodiment of love. It doesn't get any more romantic than that. The interruption in what seems to be an acrostic moment was breathtaking. I felt as though I was being plunged into another masterpiece within the first one.
That last stanza was so powerful! Loved your poem!
