Forlorn Summer Sonnet

For The Unrequited

By JZ Zurinsky Published 5 years ago 1 min read

Wrapped up and lost in love's embrace, I caress your beautiful skin

You are naked against me. We are spent. You are gorgeous in your sleep

The hopes of a life with you! Perfect in our splendor, ‘We’ feel so heavenly, our love is a sin

My desire for you burns white-hot, and the dreams bereaving me from a sweet slumber, run deep

Alas, you have made vows to another. The summer sun bidding adieu is painful and slow this eve

The pitch of the moonless night is matched to my heart. Helios, like me, now alone and in the dark

Most see your place in the sun is with your bride, and she is your season. Others know and perceive

Your reality is your season of discontent. When you are in the Autumn of your days, veracity is stark

You will learn to know I have loved you longer and brighter than a Solstice sun for most of my life

O, the white-hot sun burns! I beseeched you to choose my heart. Forlorn, I became instead of your wife
