Forever On Hold

By Julie O'Hara - Author, Poet and Spiritual WarriorPublished 6 months ago 1 min read

(Verse One)

She met him in the summer heat

His blue eyes promised dreams

She gave him all her heart and soul

But nothing's as it seems

He sang a tune of someday soon

She danced to every word

But years have passed

The melody's one she’s already heard

She buys his clothes ... She holds his hand

She treats him like a king

Her love’s a song she can’t unsing

She's a bird with broken wings

He talks of homes, of kids and vows

But never sets the date

She’s holding on but the clock ticks loud

She wonders if it’s fate

She wonders if it's too late

[Chorus]

Forever on hold

Her story untold

He's A rockstar in her eyes

But his promises have grown cold

She’s given it her all

She no longer wants to crawl

Forever on hold

Is this love at all?

Forever on hold

Is this Love at all?

[Verse 2]

She dreams of diamond rings and sacred vows

A little family in her arms

But he just smiles spinning pretty tales

She gets Distracted again by his charms

She’s the anchor. He’s the sail

And he's Drifting far from land

She wonders if she’s waiting

for a life they’ll never plan

She sees the lines upon her face

All the years she can’t reclaim

Her love’s a fire burning bright

But he turns his back to the flame

She whispers late into the night

“Am I just a phase?”

But he’s asleep

He's A dreamer deep

While she counts her wasted days

And wonders if it's too late

[Chorus]

Forever on hold

Her story untold

He's A rockstar in her eyes

But his promises have grown cold

She’s given it her all

She no longer wants to crawl

Forever on hold

Is this love at all?

Forever on hold

Is this Love at all?
