For The One Who Doubts My Love

A Poem

I’m not telling you not to ask —

Ask me a hundred times in a day,

And I will tell you each time,

How much I love you so.

I just hope that each time

That I turn to tell you,

You’d learn to doubt me less,

And you’d learn to trust me more.

For it was not the many times

you spoke

a careless word

That hurt me most.

It was not the many times

You left,

Or the many times I wept,

Because you chose to hide.

What pains my heart

Is when you doubt

And in so doubting

You fail to see my love.
