For my Muse

I hope you see this. You've inspired me, but not in the way I'd hoped.

I still love you

And I hate myself for that weakness

But you shaped me, molded me,

Created this person I am today

To cut out the pieces of me

The ones that belong only to you

Would take more strength than I have

And I do not have the will

So I'll pack them back inside

Sweep up the broken mess

Patch my heart back together

Covering up the empty holes

The ones created by your leaving

Your empty promises I listened to

I'll ignore this aching in my chest

The one that beats to your name

I'll push back the memories again

The ones from so long ago, re-lived

I'll block out the hope that dawned

Like each new sunrise, a new beginning

But I will still love you

That I cannot, will not, change

heartbreak
