Kobee, can you hear me?
You seemed happy yesterday.
In my dreams I see you clearly;
When I wake you’ve gone away.
Kobee, did you mean it?
Did you mean to leave so soon?
If you did, I wish I’d seen it,
Seen the way to rescue you.
Kobee, where’d your smile go?
It could light up any room.
Haven’t seen it in a while, though.
It made all the difference, too.
Kobee, can you see me?
See the tears run down my face?
More will follow them, believe me,
But a smile will take their place.
Kobee, I remember
What it’s like to want to leave.
My wounds were deep and tender,
But Christ healed them, I believe.
Kobee, if you’re listening,
I have one more thing to say:
Put a smile on, little brother;
Let it change the night to day…
About the Creator
Luke Haymons
“Everyday courage has few witnesses. But yours is no less noble because no drum beats for you and no crowds shout your name.”
― Robert Louis Stevenson

Didn't think I would relate or understand the pain. A few close to my heart popped into my head. Hoping we can reach them in their dark times and they find their way. It's like watching a movie play out and you can't change what is happening. Thank you for sharing this raw and vulnerable piece. I hope Kobee is smiling.
