A Poem

The footprints we left along

the pavement in the rain that poured

with your hand in mine

and mine in yours.

A seed planted in my palm and my heart.

The love you birthed in me has only grown.

Flowers bloomed and pollen had flown.

Days by the sea and ice in my coffee.

Branches dancing and shedding their skin.

The Christmas lights are up again.

Now I leave these footprints alone

with the love I have for you still

in my heart and my palm.

It was too beautiful for me to let go.

And, it is too heavy to hold on my own.

Winter comes and winter goes,

this I have lived and this I know.

My first, my only, mine forever,

mine for never, I will love you always

underneath the sun or the snow.

There's a great rhythm in this piece! Great Poem!

  • So poignantly beautiful… I loved the progression and conclusion. What a blessing memories of our loved ones are.💙
