Standing alone in the back of the field

Surrounded by weeds, briars, and thorns

Where garden crops once offered their yield

And fond childhood memories were born

The wooden structure sat silently

With many secrets held deep inside

The outhouse turned out to be

A place where kids could sneak into and hide

As the hole was being dug deep into the ground

And the boards of the foundation were being laid

Neighborhood children gathered around

Jumped inside, climbed back out, and played

One day, my Grandma came running out

With her underwear down past her knees

As everyone laughed and gathered about

A green garden snake had made her flee

Sometimes, behind the Johnnyhouse

Boys and girls would hug and kiss

And run when they spotted a field mouse

Those good old days, I truly miss

Now all the families have moved away

The older generations have died

'Without indoor plumbing, we could not stay

In our precious countryside

Now all that's left are the thorns and weeds

But I will never ever forget

The fond memories have been planted like seeds

When we went outdoors to use the toilet

For Fun
