Flying High

A poem, a poetic meme, and a beautiful song

By Rasma RaistersPublished 22 days ago 1 min read

Up high we were flying,

feeling like we do when our love,

takes us to heights with no boundaries.

Spreading our wings,

just soaring,

waiting for another chance –

to express our undying love.

Down to earth we’ ll come,

together we will dream,

together we will kiss

and our hearts will sprout wings.

*

Together hand in hand,

our hearts fluttering in joy.

A special world we’ve made,

just for us two.

When in quiet evenings,

scented candles flicker,

our shadows dancing along the walls,

passionate kisses

and words of love –

make our hearts take wing and fly high.

*

No matter where we roam,

as long as we are two,

it can be called home –

just for you and me.

As the days go by,

our hearts are flying high,

love makes it all seem so grand –

a fantasy life made for you and me.

*

In our twilight years,

when silver strands mingle with the gold,

we’ll still whisper words so sweet,

knowing they’re meant for just you and me.

Our kisses will still send our hearts aflutter,

shadows still dancing along the walls,

but there’ll be a certain sadness,

through it all, and our hearts won’t be flying so high.

*

Hoping with each sunrise and sunset,

to find us side by side,

but if one day there is only one heart still flying high,

that heart will be searching the skies,

for the one who had to part

and dreams and special memories,

will once again bring us together,

so our hearts can be flying high

and in our Heavenly home forever sigh.

Knowing love never dies

and through eternity it will be just you and I.
