Flurry
Inspired by the view out my window
I saw the snow today
Falling in the perfect way
Exactly how it did not fall yesterday.
-0-
A proper snow
Not the wild, howling, boastful kind
Not one that howled from the North
Carrying swirling, biting winds
Nor the kind to catch in your throat
Nor your eyes
A gentle snow
That obscured sight of eye
But brightened sight of mind.
-0-
A proper snow
Not the driving, battering kind
Not one that buries cities as it may
That was not the snow I saw today.
Nor one that keeps children hidden away
For fear of wolves that howl in the night
When game is scarce to find
-0-
A proper snow
Of the constant, gentle kind
One that blots out the distant views
One that blends the lights and hues
One that buries a town in slow
Solemn gusts
Making the close and near
Feel cherished and dear
To make the far away a faery dream
And that seen close at hand,
Through the cacao's rising steam,
Soft and quiet,
As we ourselves in layered blankets wind.

Very vivid and beautiful 🤍🤍 love the calmness of it, and how it flows just like snow.
This was so evocative and wonderful! Loved your poem!
This is a beautifully serene reflection on snow! I love how you use snow as a metaphor for calmness, creating a sense of warmth and intimacy in the stillness. Such a comforting piece!
Beautifully written, with a blanket soft ending
