Flowers Will Die

A Poem

By Elsie MatosPublished 8 years ago 1 min read
Spread seeds, lose greed.

Buy me flowers that won't die,

Or maybe eyes that won't cry,

Perhaps a skeleton sunken city,

So, when I drown I know it's with me.

Buy me a new head to clear my thoughts,

Or possibly forget all the times we fought,

How about buying me some new skin,

Since you soiled the one I'm living in.

Buy me a laugh or a smile at least,

So, for even a moment I'll be at peace,

Or the joy of the summer days and summer nights,

Or a man who watches plays not fights.

Buy me wisdom to never go back,

So, the heart I hold will never go black,

Buy me all you may think I need,

Realize it's still not enough for me to be freed.

Curse the man who invented love,

I know he laughs at us from up above,

Curse the man with the destructive personality,

Coming from the woman who won't accept reality.

Hearts are broken and love is lost,

People give back rings despite the cost,

And just as we know an infant will cry,

We also realize flowers will die...
