"Buying Myself Flowers"

I used to wait for someone else

To bring me bouquets and make me smile,

But now I know the greatest wealth

Is in the love that I can pile

Upon myself, with every petal

I pluck from the florist's shelf.

I used to think I needed someone

To make my life feel whole and bright,

But now I see that I am one

Who holds the key to my own light.

So I will buy myself these flowers,

And revel in my own delight.

No longer will I wait for someone

To bring me joy and sweet perfume,

For now I know that I am none

But the love that I consume

With every stem I bring home,

And every bloom that I assume.

So here's to self-love and independence,

And the beauty that it brings,

For when we learn to love ourselves,

We truly spread our wings.

And though the world may try to dim us,

We'll shine on like these flowers in spring.
