Floating in Fall

Kayaking into the mist

My kayak

Slips into crystal-clear water.

The woods lining the lake

Blaze

In the colors of Fall:

Warm golden

Fiery orange

Blood red

Deepest burgundy.

Mist

Wraps the lake

In gossamer sheets of white.

I drift,

Silent,

Solitary.

My prow slices through

The blanketing mist.

It closes behind me

And I

Disappear.
