Honoring the Peacemaker

Men with fists raised high,
Eager for the fight,
Battling for power,
In the dead of night.

War drums pound loud,
Echoes in the air,
Brothers against brothers,
No one seems to care.

But in the aftermath,
When the dust has cleared,
Who is left to bring peace,
When all else has neared?

It's the man with the scars,
The one who's seen the pain,
Who steps forward boldly,
To end the endless chain.

So let us not glorify,
The thrill of the fight,
But honor the peacemaker,
Who brings the morning light.

This was a good read - if only peacemakers could get through to those who need their message.
