First Dance

Poem

By simplicityPublished 5 months ago Updated 5 months ago 1 min read

purple, jewels, feathers and sparkling
A grape princess
Point toes, no stumbling
Gentle, yet strong arms to impress
one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight

Bright lights are blinding, entirely startling
Giving the feeling of a dancer lonely, lost or kithless
fighting the urge to faint, ignoring my obvious shortcoming
The performance commences
One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight

The metronome count is determining
Pique, plie, pirouette, relever, giving my all to impress
Leave them wanting
My fingers, arms, legs, and feet move effortlessly, the pattern endless
One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight

Corner of the stage, I spot faces, some with eyes watering
Grand ending is the basis
A curtsy, skin glistening
One, two, three, four
Curtains, recess
Five, six, seven, eight
Exit stage, new beginner darling

A exception to my plainness
exhausted from stage charming
I can still hear the counting, higher than my age,  redancing in my mind, to finesse
Reliving the moment of being a beginner starling
One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight
I'm dances mistress
