How beautiful would it be

to be a firework.

To tear through the sky

then explode into a million

sparks of colored light.

To rent the air

with broken silence

and darkness that is now aglow.

To be the bearer

of light that spreads

like fire on fabric.

***

But, the ultimate joy

of the glorious firework

is the smile it triggers

on the faces of

those who derive pleasure

from its vibrant glory.
