man vs. nature

My brother wrote of fireflies,

Twinkling in the summer skies;

I've never seen them - what have I missed?

Must put it on my "Bucket List"!

Their light display to find a mate

as the clock is ticking toward their fate...

He found them enchanting, flitting by;

Then other people came to spy.

People with flashlights and nothing to gain,

Interrupting like cops at Lover's Lane.

The bugs disappeared; the damage was done...

Once again nature lost, and mankind won.

All I know is that I'd like the chance

To travel and see the "lightning bugs" dance.

Then I'd follow any idiot people home...

And sneak around 'til they were alone.

Patiently waiting, their mating won't last...

When I surprise them with an airhorn blast!!!
