fireflies and day's lonely dream
A RubyRed Original Poem
do not forget the ways the sheep are slaughtered
herded with open arms
oblivious to death's looming shadow.
they do not understand their words
for He who is a lamb
a lamb for slaughter...
may represent the thousands burnt to a crisp
the He in power at that time
that punished the ones known as different
He who blamed the disliked for the past
and used his power to destroy them.
that is the He who is a lamb.
or is He the shepherd greedy for roast?
explain the chimney smoke
and burning bones
justify the widespread fear of war
as millions more
are worked
til'
they're
gone.

Author's Note:
This was inspired by today's Top Story, a poem by Phillip Canterbury titled All the Colourful Wildflowers (and the humans who witness them).

Congrats on Top Story Phillip!
Both poems are about the horrific events that happened in World War Two, specifically the Jewish population at the time. You can draw your own conclusions from mine and make sure you read Phillip's - they're contrasting but might make you think.
Thank you for reading, as always.

One does not need the explanation to get the meaning of the poem, the horrid moment in time is hard to miss. Simply eye opening and well done,
It's definitely the shepherd who's greedy for roast. Your poem was so deep and I loved the inspiration for your poem!
