Fire

A poem

Fire

She was good at starting a fire,

But when it came down to the ashes,

She could not put them out.

The embers lingered on,

Caught within her soul.

She danced within the flames,

But when they turned to smoke,

The heat once warm was now a ghost in the air.

She tried to rebuild, to reignite what had been,

But the embers were cold, buried deep within.

She was good at starting a fire without a doubt,

But she could never find the strength to put it out.
