Fell out of love - a poem

Can you really fall out of love?

By Henry PlumePublished 2 years ago 1 min read

I thought forever meant always,

No added conditions

A devotion to work through anything

No matter the conditions

But you didn’t

You flushed it away

No obvious reason

Just you ‘fell out of love’

I only had you for a season

7 months not above.

Like some damn politician

Wrote me off like I was superstition

No evidence of intuition

You just left.

And I need you back.

Or back to at least understand why

Why when you smile it’s like you really want to cry?

Did you really try to cling on?

Do you live now in a happier time?

Or like you are for me, am I always on your mind?

This is a heartbreaking poem but this line "Like some damn politician" made me chuckle a bit.

  • Sadly, this happens very often. I just don't understand how someone can fall out of love. Such a poignant poem!
