It is morning and I hear my darling chattering and breathing heavily, I open my tired eyes and see the blanket on the floor.

“Rob-Robin? Darling? You alright?” I whisper and pull him next to me. We are both naked still from last night and I find one of my oversized night shirts I sometimes wear draped along the dresser near the bed’s night stand.

“Put this on dear, I reckon it’ll be better than nothing.. and I’ll grab the blanket.”

Suddenly this pulls a bit of strength into my ducky lover and he grabs me tight along my waist.

“No, no, Harry,” he huffs and kisses me, “don’t go to the floor, it’s dark and dingy! Stay with me…” he gruffly yells in a tight loud whisper in my mouth, kissing me passionately after every other word.

“But…” I sigh, kissing him back, “I’m cold too.”

“Let’s be cold together, my love.”

His words make my heart overflow with unimaginable heat, a strange pulling sadness, and I nod and hold him close and wrap my legs around him.

“Don’t want this day to start yet, do you?” He asks.

I shake my head. “No.”

“Do you like being cold with me?” He whispers and I kiss his cheek.

“Ah, yes, it’s perfectly safe here. Cause you are keeping me warm..” I answer and I hear him happily sigh.

“Even being sticky after last night doesn’t bother you, dear?” I ask after much comforting silence.

“Ugh, don’t remind me, I’ll need to do sheets… and give us a proper bath…” he grumbles and I laugh.

“Only to get it dirty later…” I tease.

He sighs and rolls his eyes. “You dirty boy.”

“Still cold?” I grin and nuzzle against his beak.

“Not anymore…” he whispers as he holds me tight.

The morning sun hits our feet, and we tumble against each other until we are again complete.

It’s rare for us to sink deeper into the feeling of cold on purpose, but it’s almost like we finally feel accomplished together in our fully accepted mortality, no longer fearing the coil that singes and drains us.

I whisper a moment of our love in his hand and along his jaw, his shivering body covering me and it’s so scarily rare…

We both feel so alive.
