Feel your feelings

Feel the gray

the soft sweater

the cozy socks

Leave the mess

feed yourself

Feel what you need

to feel.

I settle in with a warm cup of tea, my favorite soft sweater, cozy socks and even softer and cozier blanket. It is only the first of September, August has not even had a proper farewell yet, though most people are already missing the thought of Summer. The briskness of Autumn has yet to come as we will still have days of sweltering heat in the next few weeks. But this rainy weather is an inviting feeling as I let the chill of change comfort me. I listen to the pattering raindrops outside at my window as I type this and sip my tea. My typing in rhythm with the rain enlightens me, as does the calming aroma of my tea. A quick look to my left outside through the window to take it all in a bit more. The dog snores lightly in her bed behind me. The baby naps in the next room, I hear her sound machine softly playing lullabies in the background. In the next room over I hear my older son giggle, whatever he is doing or watching, it makes me giggle, too.

The laundry is folded and put away. I have fed myself, and the little ones as well. I take some time for myself. There is no where to go, not out in the rain. Sometimes we need days like this, without even realizing it, I crave for days like this. Soon we’ll hear the thunder and lightening strike, but we stay cozy and warm on this first day of September.
