it seemed a truly aimed projectile
the wind was quiet, though
and I wondered, did the fir tree shake her arms
dropping her needles and throwing her cones?
a glance out the window to
review the scene,
tiny darts land delicately, perfectly placed
revealing not a cone of woody scales
but a petite pine siskin, finely feathered

This is incredible! And the birds are so cute!
I love this. You always paint the picture so well
Well-wrought! I see their cousins, the goldfinches, every summer, darting in and out of the brush, but haven't caught sight of many pine siskins around here. Then again, they would blend in pretty well with the sparrows, of whom I see plenty!
I love these little ones. So full of life. Nicely worded. Thank you
Love this - and siskins too. Great stuff.
This is so sweet!!
One that truly likes nature am I and this poem shows nature in all its' glory for the birds. Good job.
good . please take a look at my profile
Awww, sooo adorable! Loved your poem!
Beautiful words.. Did it crash into the window?
I wish we could experience more of such scenes here. We do have Flames of the Forest which shed lovely yellow flowers, though. Our way of heralding the season!
Beautiful. Reminds me of my walks in the park when all the birds are in the trees, shaking up the branches with their joy.
Such a cute bird, worthy of your words, giving it life. I also enjoyed the description -woody scales- for the pinecone.
Your ornithological poems are always finely feathered!
Nice work. Question what was the trigger for this story? You peaked my interests. :)
lovely piece, Andrea
