Fear
It is the only thing
I have ever felt purely
The only thing
That has never left me
It steals from me the sleep
Which brings sanity
The peace
Which silence promises
It plays goalie with my dreams
But gifts me nightmares
Whispers lies to my questions
But makes sure I see the darkest truths
Fear makes me lonely
Mistrusting
It forces me to doubt
To stall
But it also teaches me
To think before I act
To question
Before I know
It keeps me from making mistakes
From regret
It forces me to look
Where otherwise I might have missed
It is my greatest weakness
And my most powerful strength
A double edged sword
Whose use depends on how it is wielded
