There’s a river far away

As water crashes on rock, I hear it call my name

I hope to throw another stone in the current someday

Memory will serve until that day

The river always taught me never go back in time

Still, I wonder if the same waters flowed through twice

I hope to hear it talk someday, just to tell me how-to run-in place

When I shut my eyes the river nears, just right then it disappears

I want to apologize for the wasted years

Forgiveness won’t be wasted here

Ambition and pride it took me far and wide

Now I scream for the simplicity the waters brought before I die

There’s a river, where I used to play

Now that river is far away

I left in search of a better place

If only I had known to keep my pace
