Fantasy
Wonderland Poetry Prompt Challenge Day 17

I waste my breath
in unrequited sighs
that have steeped for decades
in empty cups of longing.
Has this world forgotten
that it was rooted in myth?
I kiss the dawns on vacant shores
toes caressed by saline lochs
that come and go as they please.
How like the waves of men they are,
crashing in, promising to seep through,
leaving behind foam.
Where are the depths they foretold,
in ancient songs and tales,
rooted in truth?
How can one create stars
if they never held stardust?
My arms outstretch in winds
that whisper
"there is still time"
but what faith remains
when shallow tide pools
are all that remain?

“There is still time” it’s the plea you make to yourself that things will change in time. Nicely done, Ellie. Here’s mine: https://shopping-feedback.today/poets/fantasy-y82hts03mu%3C/span%3E%3C/span%3E%3C/span%3E%3C/a%3E%3C/p%3E%3C/div%3E%3C/div%3E%3C/div%3E%3Cdiv class="css-w4qknv-Replies">

Hi Elie, Here is my Day 17 challenge contribution: https://shopping-feedback.today/poets/fantasy-to-fiction-tonight%3C/span%3E%3C/span%3E%3C/span%3E%3C/a%3E 😊😊
Very nice
Love is a painful stimulus. Giving up halfway is even more painful. But the most painful thing is unrequited love. If you are deeply in love, all you get is a pot of ice water!
Well-wrought! As much as I love Joseph Campbell's take on the hero story, it always seems to be a means to encourage the most courageous to throw their lives away for the most cowardly. As much as I love the idea of miracles, these are often illusions proffered to distract the faithful from what their ideologues are doing behind closed doors. Nevertheless, there is real courage in the human heart, and real miracles do happen for the self-aware to see, and I am immensely grateful. A blessing and a prayer for you, Ellie, that these things will emanate their light where shadows are best dispelled!
