Some family I will never know,
When I arrived, they'd had to go.
Others - I barely even knew,
They had to leave before I grew.
I wish that I could say truly,
That they could say they really knew me,
Of course my blood goes way back when
Who were my ancestors way back then?
Which features of me did they give?
What did they do and where'd they live?
And of their travels where'd they go?
And of their friends, who did they know?
Then there are family members who,
I love but sometimes fight with too.
These people who have shared my life,
Who've been there through both joy and strife.
From my lips some true words fall,
To all my family ever - "I love you all."
