Fall(ing)

A Poem

By Gavin J InnesPublished about a year ago 1 min read

Never saw it coming,

This feeling inside my gut,

My face hurts from all the smiling,

She's a shot of hazelnut.

Her sweetness resting on my lips,

I try but can't ignore,

So I run my tongue around my mouth,

Just to taste her kiss once more.

Hands held together hostage,

Braving the bitter bite,

Of what could be or not be,

And all the things we did last night.

You'll keep adding to our playlist,

I'll keep cleaning your coffee pot,

Both holding on to now,

Because we know it's all we've got.

And somehow it's enough,

This one thing we allow,

To say the words we said we'd swallow,

I love you.

But just for now.
