Short Poems

Faith or Sin
The tide brings us in
with an unforgiving wave;
producing problems.
Sins wash away with
a neutrality known as
one's unfaithfulness.
Build a new bridge that
will force us to recognize
our unlawful path.
Suffering
I am the one who must suffer.
I feel the knife in your spleen
though it is not my flesh that
is being pierced. It hurts. I feel fire
around the open wound. Do you
feel the pain; cause I do. Do you
feel mine? Do you sense the lonely
soul? I feel yours, and it is strong.
Hide your pain like the squirrel who
waits for winter to approach. Even
though it is hidden, that does not mean
it will be forgotten. It's still there,
and I sense it. I guess I will suffer.
Philadelphia
It was an industry with a
beautiful sun roof. Though
it's reputation was bad, its
winters were memorable. I long
for its soft, slush of snow.
