Fairy tales do come true

We all want to believe in fairy tales.

By John FletcherPublished 4 years ago Updated 3 years ago 2 min read

Fairy tales do come true

Before you came into my life ,

I did not know I was missing anything

I thought I was happy and good ,

And now the thought of you sends my heart racing

Nothing in life scares me except

The thought of you not here and leaving

So I keep pinching myself

To make sure its real and that I’m not dreaming

You are so perfect and I’m not

I do not understand what you see in me

All I know is that I’m lucky

That I found the mermaid that lives in the sea

I always aim out of my league

Maybe this time, you won’t run away and flee

I do not know how you do it

You have this way that makes me want to believe

Believe in you, Believe in me

Believe in a fairy tale that could come true

Even though I have been around

You make everything feel like it is brand new

Every touch, Every word

Makes me forget everything I once knew

How will the fairy tale conclude?

Enjoy the journey because I have no clue

Do not worry about the end

I am enjoying the present moment now

Trying to make my princess know

That every time I see her, I go wow

And that as long as I am here

I will protect her and support her, I vow

And I will fight besides my queen

For as long as the story will allow

Behind the poem:

Written 9/27/2021

I think that this poem can be a poem that we all relate to. I think for the one giving this poem. This speaks about his or her heart and how they feel about the special person they give this to. For the receiver, this is what we want the giver to feel about them. We all want to believe in fairy tales. We all want that love that conquers all. We want to be that knight is shinning armor, or to be that princess that wants to be rescued by her knight in shinning armor. I know that the world is changing and that dating, and relationship are changing. But I think our desire to fight to save our princess or our desire that our prince will travel the world to save us still exists in our souls. If it doesn’t – I don’t want to be part of that world. This poem is dedicated to those souls.
