Faint Light

A Poem

There is no more you,

There is no more us

Now, there is only me and myself,

Reflecting as night falls

~

From the window of my room,

I see the faint light of the stars beginning to fade

Street lights seem to bid farewell

The cold of the night sweeps away all warmth

~

There are times when fatigue strikes

There are times when weariness approaches

Yet, it’s not as easy as turning your hand

~

The trust that has been built

The feelings that have been nurtured

Still leave a fragment of hope

~

Sometimes, even though thought over repeatedly,

It’s clearly easier to love everyone

Than to forget you, just one person

~

It’s enough for me to dream

Perhaps I need another cup of coffee

To accompany this faint night
