Failure

Will she be proud again?

By sonderPublished about a year ago 1 min read

I’ve failed her expectations

I made her believe that I’m a disrespectful person who doesn’t deserve her

I changed how she sees me

In every possible way, I’ve failed her;

The person who gave me life

The person that I would come running back to every time my world feels heavy

My mother.

I failed as a daughter,

I failed as a person.

With every glance she makes,

She doesn’t just look at my direction—

She’s looking directly at me,

At my soul.

Making my heart feel heavy

Unable to carry it.

With those stares she gives me

It makes me think

If I would even get a chance to make things right.

Change how she sees me

Apologize for every mistake I’ve made

Make her proud of me again.

Proud that I’m her daughter

The kind

And smart daughter

Who she once had.
