Fading
Just a mental health awareness poem speaking about how someone may feel things are obvious, but really everyone is oblivious.
Do you hear what I hear?
Perhaps you’re attuned to a different tune?
You’re just like the rest, another stat I carve in the wall,
Another failed test.
Another outcome I know too well,
I finally open up the gates to the real me,
You get annoyed and leave me,
Then it’s like a reset,
We go from hour long conversations
Back to being strangers.
I’m not saying that to guilt you,
It’s just something I’ve grown used to.
It’s like sharing a story, yet no one is listening
Or better yet,
The useless white crayon,
Because it’s getting hard to be the light
When it’s fading from everyone’s sight
But more so, it's fading from mine.
As I feel my soul thirst,
Dried out lips,
Asleep from an Old Friend's kiss.
