A jaded love poem

In a dream, God gifted me your smile.

Our summer steam made promises—

rich petrichor to quench my empty Nile.

You feigned the seraph—

strumming me, your little harp...

but were the devil (all)

the while.

Love the analogy of the harp to insinuate being played. Great job

I love the use of “summer steam” to refer to the relationship. It confers its intensity but also its impermanence. Great work!

Crikey. I was swept along with the romance and sensuality of the opening few lines...then bam, like Dana said! You are absolutely nailing these every single time, Gina!
