Upon the welcome mat, it stood,
A creature from another hood.
I stared at first; I admit I marveled,
I wondered how far this thing had traveled.
I looked at it; it looked right back,
Perhaps understanding it did lack.
But then it tried a friendly wave,
And I recalled how I ought to behave.
“Come in,” I said. “Please have a seat,
We haven’t had visitors in over a week.
Excuse the laundry, excuse the dishes,
With the whole family here, cleaning never finishes.”
“I beg your pardon, I don’t mean to pry,
But did I see you come down from the sky?
Is that your spaceship out there on the lawn?
Oh, don’t worry about it; it never gets shorn.”
“But if you’re from out of town, you surely need a tour!
A guide of your own to make especially sure
That you smell all the scents and see all the sights;
That you taste the best cuisine and meet the city right.”
But before we set out on our exploration,
I must introduce you with acclamation,
To a special someone, there’s no need to fear,
“Mum! We have a visitor here!”

Nicely done, Jady! I especially liked the ending!
Sweet to meet your alien in your hood. Be careful, make sure it is a friendly soul. Lovely poem, hope it all works out well for you and alien friend.
This is great! I love it! 😍
