Everything Changes

You have no need or room for us anymore

Everything Changes

Everything changed. You changed,

you moved on, left us

to collect dream now over.

where laughter once lived.

You found someone new,

and we became background.

familiar furniture,

in a room you no longer enter.

Your world widened,

ours shrank.

You stopped calling.

We stopped waiting.

And now we wonder why

could you not have included us

in your new life?

it’s hard learning

how to let go.

you could have included us.

instead you chose to let us go.

This seems like a poem of parents letting go just as their children let go of them. Good job.

  • Tears filled my eyes as I read this 😥 so touching ❤️ " We became background.." hits me hard. I will never put my parents in the background 😢

  • This poetry came from watching a tv program about a son who moved on leaving his parents behind after they helped him with a drink problem. It’s a poem not my life Thank god. 🙏
