A friend of wisdom claimed, once
that come the end of one's long day,
We might, each person, merely have
but one or two real things to say;
With tremb'ling hands and eyes the same,
My heart heard deep wisdom's friend sing:
Each aching poem and tale of mine
is trying to say the same thing.
One day I'll too give final verse,
watch embers of a last fire die;
With ash, the theme will skyward go -
just the same as my first song's cry.
The setting sun teaches bold, clear
that endings may quietly hold
a searing beauty all their own
which only in passings unfold.
Take comfort in this knowledge, friend:
Though you yet clarity desire,
Each yearning sound and story, yours
Weave together, an everfire.

Everfire - this is lovely poetry
I love the imagery in your poem - and even more so, the use of "everfire" to embody setting suns, final verses, and life's end. Just simply beautiful, Gabriel. Best of luck on the challenge.
As always, top notch poetry.
Gabriel you truly have an amazing way with poetry. I am always so jealous people like you that can write with such a beautiful cadence. Is the little drawing at the top yours as well?
Well-wrought, Gabriel! The rhyme and rhythm unfold in a manner reminiscent of a waving, rising fire. Intricate, delicate, yet strong. We all seem mediums for the expression of greater things, but we choose how to reflect that light. You've reflected it beautifully here!
