I have been

Beaten, not broken

Belittled, not diminished

Bullied, not silenced

Betrayed, not resentful

Back-stabbed, not ruined.

Working hard to redefine bad experiences in the past to state positives about handling adversity.

Therefore,

I am and remain

Hopeful, not naively

Trusting, not blindly

Seeking, not aimlessly

Honest, not cruelly

Focused, not single-mindedly

Open, not foolishly

Victimized, not quietly.

Moving forward:

May we all be

Using our adversity, amplifying our voices

Looking to improve, empathizing with others

Kind and gentle, seeing humanity with love

Determined, not jaded

Passionate, not dogmatic

Purpose-driven, not aimless

Productive, not useless.
