“I look at you and see all the greatest things in the world—

You have so much potential.

And yet you constantly choose things,

Do things,

That are so opposite of who you are.

Why? Why do you do it?”

“I suppose I don’t know who I am.”

And with that, he departed.

He didn’t yell or scream like I thought he would.

He just left and walked out of my life.

I often thought I pushed him too hard

And he left to prove a point,

To show me up, so to speak.

It was my only regret that I didn’t run after him

And hold him in my arms.

But boys don’t like to be hugged—

Especially by fat, old women.
