Honoring Heroes and Reflecting on Resilience

On a beautiful, clear September morning,

The lovely, serene light filled the sky.

But hearts were broken, tranquility was shattered,

A globe abandoned, a nation in mourning.

Twin towers, majestic and lofty,

an emblem of a powerful nation.

became the object of hatred, which caused others to pause and reflect.

The sky was filled with terrifying steel birds, flames, explosions, and a frantic shriek.

Amidst the blaze, heroes emerged, their bravery unbridled and their fear unbridled.

Ash, smoke, and twisted steel

An unreal nightmare that seemed too real.

The world saw in unison the loss of lives and the destruction of hopes.

There was hope amid the rubble.

A shared dream, a strong spirit.

To get back up, to mend and heal,

to respect those we were unable to defend.
