Eternal Love

Finding and Eternal Love

By Emilie TurnerPublished 3 months ago 2 min read

I searched for love in places worn and wide

in books and cafés, and in strangers' eyes.

A restless heart with far too much to hide,

I chased a spark beneath the lonely skies.

I sent my words like messages in flight,

half-hopeful texts I hoped would somehow land.

Each read or left unread, a fading light,

the silence digging deep into the sand.

But love struck not like lightning in the sky,

not seized with words that vanish in the air.

It came in quiet moments, soft and shy,

a voice well-known, so tender and aware.

I sought a chase, but found my heart's true flame

We met, we stayed, and chose a shared last name.

We step beyond the promise and the vow,

into quiet days where love is now made.

Not in grand gestures or the fleeting now,

but in the steady light that will not fade.

In laughter shared beside the morning cup,

in silent glances filled with knowing grace,

in tangled sheets where tender hands wake up,

in the simple meals and our soft embrace.

This dance moves slow in sure, familiar ways,

a steady beat beneath the evening sky.

No rush, no need for pretence or displays,

two hearts at peace, no masks, just you and I.

Love doesn't end in vows or bold new starts,

it breathes in meals, and mornings, and shared hearts.

The chase gives way to calm stillness and grace,

in quiet rooms where tiny fingers rest.

Our arms become their very first safe place

where love will rise and gently manifest.

No longer seeking in the endless night,

for love now rests in these still peaceful walls.

The chase is done, its echoes soft and light

reflected in how their laughter now falls.

Together now we walk, three, four, five,

The world we chased has opened wide its door,

like stars aligned, where all our hopes survive.

It led us to the life we waited for.

The hunt is done, at last our love is found,

not in the wild, but rooted in this ground.
