Eternal Colours

Colours

By Keith KarikariPublished 5 years ago 1 min read

Colours are the basis of all things,

Red, yellow and blue, the three cardinal colours that can combine to create all the world’s hues.

The same colours we grew up with.

That we saw in the sky and painted on the page.

The contrast of colour helps us see the world in a different light,

Constantly contouring the crevasses,

Greying out the conjoined shadows creeping out from our feet and blacking out the bleak darkness hidden in the places light could not illuminate.

Colours are age, from the bright eyed baby to the grey eyes of the elderly.

Colour fades with time and yet is constantly renewed by the new life that is breathed into the world.

As our hairs from black to grey and our clear skin becomes blemished with the brown and black spots of time.

The colour recedes into our minds and our memories of before and our thoughts of the future

Colours are the feelings, from the love we feel for each other to the anger we can feel for ourselves

Passion burns the ever bright red trying to leave its mark,

Loneliness the cold blue as it leaves us numb to the things around us

Joy tickles us a rosy pink with delight releasing with it the worries of times past

Envy paints us green obscuring our vision of what we have as we look over other pastures.

Colours are eternal even if they fade

They sometimes exist beyond visible sight or perceivable sense

But even things that seem colourless can reveal themselves at the right angle.

Remember the colours we have seen when we can no longer see as they keep us connected to the life

Without seeing the shades of the world it becomes much harder to smile

Without the brightness of the sun it is harder to feel warmth

Take time to embrace the colours of life so it can renew your mind and refill your palette.

Colours breed the creativity and blend to make new things or even things long since forgotten.
