erasing the end

silence

Top Story - September 2024

so, you flourish under his enchanting, poisonous words, yet are

ignorant of his looming gift, a picture-book of your terribly quiet grave?

lights flicker, dim. i scream for you to turn away, run away from

each scar he inks with Hell’s creativity – inside your stripped, sunken soul,

notes and pages of your former voice lost to that unwanted narrator.

cease this, i beg! slam the book shut – only he shall remain smothered,

eternally left to burn, inside the story he tried to finish for you!

This is a deeply striking metaphor, communicated with such desperation and eloquence. Amazing work, and congrats on the Top Story! :)

A sense of foreboding and disbelief that she would tread the path everyone knows would end in shambles but too trapped by the sweet words to see the second option. Very twisty and captivating, I especially love the last line.

The commentary made about someone who seems to have no voice. Exemplary of how one's entire life could be consumed by one person, and they feel trapped in their now tiny world, without even a word being uttered. It's incredible how you're able to capture such emotions, the feeling of being trapped and consumed, the constant pressure being felt by the narrator. Your writing style is enticing and captivating, keep going Adonide!
