Ephemeral Starlight

A Glimpse of a Distant Star

By glowlikevegaPublished 15 days ago Updated 14 days ago 1 min read
Night Sky (24 October 2024)

You said, “Show me your soul.”

But what if you won’t love me anymore?

I’d rather lie than lose your call,

So I guard my pain, never let it unfold.

No one looks for sunrise in the dark,

Just as I never meant to leave your sight.

So let me be a distant star tonight,

Just to guide you with my light.

Twenty-five light years, the space between us two,

A vacuum of silence I built to save you.

I sparkle through glass and the cold evening air,

You’ll love the glow, but not feel the despair.

Lying in your sheets, warmed in your arms,

Hold on to the moment while the sun is still down.

Look for me not — I’ll be gone by dawn.

A fleeting light you once lingered on.
