The sun glows bright in the morning sky,
I’m ready for an adventure, my spirits are high.
I’ll go to the park, maybe bring my cute dog—
Should I have a picnic or go for a jog?
The day is early, so much for me to do,
I could watch a movie or even go to the zoo.
I could call my friend to come over and chill,
Oh, there are so many choices—it gives me a thrill.
I could go outside, maybe make a new friend,
Or I’ll go for a swim, the options never end.
The joy I feel is like nothing before,
Excitement for everything I get to explore.
Today is going to be super fun,
Doing anything I want under that bright sun.
Full of possibilities to laugh and smile,
I’ll just grab a book and enjoy reading for a while.

Day 4 of Quitting
If this is how sobriety feels, maybe it’s better to go through life a little buzzed… this, along with other hits like, I want to kill myself, I wish I was dead, and I’m going to throw myself off a bridge have been the only thoughts on rotation these past few days. I promise myself that if, in a month, I still feel like this (‘this’ meaning despondent, full of rage, and simultaneously numb) I can go back to smoking. Until mid-February though? Nicotine is off the table.
