Endless night

By Atong Alor

I do not own the right to this picture.

Lighting cracked the inner walls of the enclosed darkness,

Threatening to expose the skulking shadows of the night.

Fat rain drops soak the surface, seeping into the bottomless earth.

Thunder rumbled and roared, demanding its share of the enigma of the night.

The wind whistled and whipped about summoning all terrors of the night,

The restless mind of the anxious conjures up fictitious demons.

The aching, broken heart of the grieving sobs soundlessly into the pillow.

Liquor inebriated the nerve-wracked into pacific.

Fear and fascination entwined the mind of the curious,

Reason and logic disowned by the terror-stricken.

The endless night lingers on, feeding off the souls of the restless.
