Where's my bottle of gratitude?

By William AlfredPublished 10 months ago 1 min read
Baby wants gratitude

So now we have leaders who demand,

in public meetings, staged for effect,

that other leaders show gratitude

in proportion to required servility.

The Ugly American is on full display,

with all his undeserved and boorish

neediness, desperation to

fill the hole in his hollow heart

where decent Americans keep their virtues.

Arrogent ignorance drives out decency

and leaves an empty soul behind,

crying like a baby for a bottle of milk,

for someone to sate its self-caused hunger.

He who insists on a show of gratitude

demonstrates deep inferiority.

A political party that cheers him on

knows it does not deserve thanks.
