Empty Handed

A Poem of Loss and Regret

I stand here in the empty room
Surrounded by your things
Each one a reminder of the past
Of all the love it brings

But now you're gone, and I'm alone
Left with memories and pain
My heart aches with each passing day
As I try to cope in vain

I thought I had forever with you
But fate had other plans
Now I'm left with nothing
But memories in my hands

The laughter and the joy we shared
Now seem so far away
And all that's left is the emptiness
Of the life that we once made

I wish I could turn back time
And hold onto you again
But now I'm left with regrets
And a heart that cannot mend

I should have loved you more each day
And cherished every moment
But now I'm left with only tears
And a love that was so potent

But now it's too late, you're gone forever
And I'm left with empty hands
The love we shared will never fade
But the pain, it never ends

So I'll hold onto the memories
And cherish them forevermore
And hope that one day we'll meet again
On that distant, far-off shore.
